1. Our commitment to accessibility
At Giant Digital, we are dedicated to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including those with disabilities. We continuously strive to improve the user experience and adhere to evolving accessibility standards. Our goal is to provide content that is accessible, usable and inclusive for everyone.
2. Conformance status
- Current standard: Our website (https://www.giantdigital.co.uk/) is designed with the aim of meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA/AAA criteria.
- Future enhancements: As the accessibility landscape evolves, we are closely monitoring the upcoming WCAG 3.0 guidelines and will work diligently to incorporate these enhancements into our digital assets as soon as practicable.
Please note that while we aim for full conformance, some dynamic features or third-party content may not yet fully meet these standards. We are continuously working to address these issues.
3. Technical standards
- Accessibility guidelines: We are in the process of developing in accordance with WCAG 2.2 (AA/AAA) and are preparing for adoption of WCAG 3.0 (Bronze, Silver, Gold) once released.
- Assistive technologies: We are working towards supporting various assistive technologies, including screen readers (JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver), magnifiers (ZoomText) and keyboard-only navigation.
4. Known limitations
We continuously review the accessibility of this website through automated testing, manual checks, and user feedback. Any issues identified that do not fully conform to WCAG 2.2 AA or AAA and are not considered a disproportionate burden will be documented in this section, along with the relevant WCAG criterion and an estimated resolution timeframe.
Our most recent audit (September 2026) identified the following limitations, which we are actively working through:
Some graphics are announced without labels
A number of decorative graphics on the homepage are currently exposed to screen readers as unlabelled images, adding noise for screen reader users. We are marking decorative graphics so screen readers skip them, and labelling any that carry meaning.
WCAG reference: 1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A)
Target resolution: [to be confirmed]
Current page in pagination not reliably announced
On our article and work listing pages, the marker showing which page of results you are on is not reliably announced by all screen readers. We are restructuring it so the current page is always clearly identified.
WCAG reference: 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (Level A)
Target resolution: [to be confirmed]
Footer heading structure
The footer's section headings currently sit within the structure of the preceding content section rather than as sections in their own right, which can make the page outline confusing for people navigating by headings. We are correcting the heading levels so the outline reflects the actual page structure.
WCAG reference: 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A)
Target resolution: [to be confirmed]
No single control yet for stopping animation
The site includes animated and moving elements that cannot currently be paused through one clear control. We are adding a toggle to the header navigation that will stop all animation and moving parts across the site for anyone who prefers a still page.
WCAG reference: 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide (Level A)
Target resolution: [to be confirmed]
Homepage title repeats our name
The homepage title currently repeats "Giant Digital" twice, which is redundant for people reviewing browser tabs or history with a screen reader. We are removing the duplicate.
WCAG reference: 2.4.2 Page Titled (Level A)
Target resolution: [to be confirmed]
Some repeated link text
Several links on the homepage share the same text ("Read more", "Continue reading"). Each sits within a card whose heading provides context, but when links are reviewed as a list out of context they read as identical entries. We are updating each link so its destination is clear on its own.
WCAG reference: 2.4.9 Link Purpose (Link Only) (Level AAA)
Target resolution: [to be confirmed]
Logo may be announced twice
On some pages the site logo may be announced twice by screen readers (once for the link and once for the graphic inside it). We are tidying this so the logo is announced once, clearly, as "Giant Digital — home".
WCAG reference: 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (Level A)
Target resolution: [to be confirmed]
Social sharing image has no description
The image used when our pages are shared on social platforms does not yet carry alternative text. We are adding a description so shared previews are accessible on platforms that support it.
WCAG reference: 1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A)
Target resolution: [to be confirmed]
Plain language improvements
Some of our copy reads above the recommended reading level, leans on metaphor over concrete description, or uses unexplained terms and abbreviations (for example "Thought Leadership" as a category name, and abbreviations such as AI, SEO and GEO on first use). We are carrying out a plain-language content pass to address these.
WCAG reference: 3.1.5 Reading Level (Level AAA), 3.1.4 Abbreviations (Level AAA)
Target resolution: [to be confirmed]
Beyond the guidelines, we are also reviewing the legibility of decorative typography in key headings and the overall density of the homepage — neither is a WCAG failure, but both affect real users, and our aim is a site that works well for everyone rather than one that only passes checks.
5. Disproportionate burden
We recognise that in some cases, achieving full conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) may impose an unreasonable burden in terms of cost, time or technical limitations. For example, converting extensive archives of legacy PDF documents into fully accessible formats may be disproportionate given current resources, as may remediating certain legacy semantic structure and landmark issues that affect WCAG 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks (such as a main navigation implemented using an invalid structure where
elements are not immediate children of a
).
In such instances, we will provide alternative formats (for example, plain-text summaries or audio recordings) upon request and continue to prioritise accessible creation of new content. We regularly review these considerations to ensure any burdens remain reasonable while still progressing towards full accessibility.
6. Feedback and contact information
We welcome your input in our accessibility journey. If you encounter any difficulty or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us by one of the following methods:
- Email: accessibility@giantdigital.co.uk

7. Requesting alternative formats
If you require content in an alternative format (such as large print, audio or an accessible PDF), please contact us (see section 6). We are committed to providing materials in formats that meet your needs and will endeavour to fulfil requests promptly.
8. Our process and future plans
- Ongoing audits: We perform regular accessibility audits - both internally and with external experts - to identify and rectify remaining barriers. We use a combination of automated testing tools (e.g. Axe, WAVE) and manual user-testing with assistive technologies to validate compliance.
- Training and development: Continuous training for our staff ensures accessibility remains a priority throughout our development lifecycle. All new hires undergo accessibility best-practice sessions twice a year.
- Remediation roadmap: We maintain a detailed, public roadmap listing all known issues, their WCAG references and estimated completion dates. This roadmap is reviewed and updated monthly.
- Future standards: We are dedicated to keeping pace with evolving guidelines, including WCAG 3.0 (Bronze, Silver, Gold) as they become available. Interim staff briefings will be held to assess and implement any changes necessary to meet these new standards.
9. Reporting and resolving accessibility issues
To report an accessibility problem, please provide a detailed description of the issue (including steps to reproduce it) to:
We strive to acknowledge all accessibility-related feedback within 5 business days and to resolve reported issues as promptly as possible, following the timeframes indicated in section 4.
10. Legal disclaimer
While we are committed to making our website accessible, some content provided by third parties may not fully conform to WCAG 2.2 or future WCAG 3.0 standards. We are working closely with these providers to improve accessibility, but this statement does not apply to content not controlled by Giant Digital.
